Dr. Evgeni Gousev is senior director of engineering where he leads Qualcomm’s ‘AI Center of Expertise’ across automotive, IoT and cloud computing. In this role, he is responsible for developing and productizing energy efficient AI computing platforms for edge deployments, including Qualcomm Dragonwing AI On-Prem Appliance and AI Inference Suite.
Prior to joining Qualcomm in 2005, Evgeni worked for IBM where he led projects in the field of advanced silicon technologies in semiconductor R&D Center in East Fishkill and T.J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, NY.
Evgeni earned his Ph.D. degree in solid-state physics and M.S. in applied physics from Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, Tech University. After graduation, Evgeni joined Rutgers University first as a Postdoctoral Fellow and then as a Research Assistant Professor. While at Rutgers, he performed fundamental research in the area of advanced gate dielectric for CMOS devices which, a decade later, became industry wide standards. After Rutgers, he was a visiting professor with the Center for Nanodevices and Systems, Hiroshima University, Japan.
Dr. Gousev serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of EDGE AI FOUNDATION (formerly tinyML Foundation) and is a member of the Board of Trustees of American Institute of Physics Foundation. In 2020, Evgeni was inducted into the “Hall of Fame” of SEMI MEMS and Sensors Industry Group. He has co-edited 26 books and published more than 169 papers (with over 12k citations and h-index of 51: Google Scholar). He is a holder of more than 100 patents.
