It is always desirable for design automation of power converters which can relieve engineers from the tedious tasks of parameter tuning. Recently there has been tremendous advancement of AI technology and computing power, which certainly accelerate realization of the desire for design automation. In this presentation I shall introduce our research work on design automation of power converter by AI and Machine Learning. We proposed a design methodology which incorporate Bayesian optimization as the AI algorithm for power converter design. This presentation will start with a review of popular AI methods for design automation. It is discovered that Bayesian Optimization is a promising algorithm. It provides its results in less iterations, hence computationally less expensive. It makes use of probabilistic model and more efficiently explore the parameter space and produce respectable result. It can also accommodate multi physics simulation software such as finite element analysis and circuit simulation which can work together to produce accurate modeling. A design example for an LLC converter will be discussed, showing the detailed design parameters and their convergence performances.
